IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor 1)

Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1, Somatomedin C) is a 70-amino acid single-chain polypeptide with structural similarity to insulin that serves as the primary mediator of growth hormone's (GH) anabolic effects. Produced mainly in the liver under GH stimulation, IGF-1 circulates bound to IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs) and acts through the IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R), a tyrosine kinase receptor that activates PI3K/Akt and MAPK/ERK pathways. IGF-1 promotes cell growth, differentiation, and survival in virtually all tissues, playing critical roles in linear growth, muscle hypertrophy, bone metabolism, neuronal survival, and metabolic regulation. Dysregulation of IGF-1 signaling is implicated in cancer, diabetes, and aging.

Frequently Asked Questions About IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor 1)

IGF-1 is a 70-amino acid peptide hormone that mediates most of growth hormone's anabolic effects, promoting cell growth and survival through the IGF-1 receptor.

Our wholesale IGF-1 is ≥98% purity, verified by HPLC and mass spectrometry.

IGF-1 is used in GH/IGF-1 axis studies, muscle physiology, cancer biology, bone metabolism, neuronal survival, and aging research.

HGH is the upstream hormone produced by the pituitary, while IGF-1 is its downstream effector produced primarily in the liver. Many of GH's growth-promoting effects are mediated through IGF-1 production.
