It is classified as a nootropic and neuropsychotropic agent with demonstrated effects on memory, attention, and cognitive processing speed. Research shows Semax influences BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) expression, enhances cerebral blood flow, and provides neuroprotective effects. Unlike ACTH, Semax does not affect adrenal cortex function. It has been approved in Russia for clinical use in treating stroke and cognitive disorders.
